Nystagmus and Functional Vision
How do I know how much I, or my child, will be able to see with nystagmus? This presentation covers some of the latest findings on how nystagmus affects reading, and what we can do to make reading easier. Other functional aspects of vision with nystagmus are covered as well, including posture, judging distance, and emotional recognition. The presenter is Dr. Frank Proudlock, from the University of Leicester in the UK. The presentation was given at the 2019 ANN conference.
Functional Vision Evaluations
The video provides working definition of various visual-related terminology and perspectives around vision and developmental optometry as well as a discussion of the hierarchy of visual, gross, fine, and ocular motor development phases. The video is useful for equipping parents with a solid understanding of what to expect as a child, any child, develops visually and physically. The talk also includes definitions of terms like 20/20 and some of the misconceptions and misunderstanding around these measurement terms.
