In addition to the polls conducted online (and thank you for all of you who participated!) many factors contributed to the selection of this city. Listed below are factors the conference committe used to choose a location.
- Hotel Cost. We were able to negotiate room rates at $95/night, which includes internet access.
- Airfare Cost. Washington D.C. is serviced by 3 major airports: Washington Reagan National (DCA ), Baltimore-Washington International (BWI ) and Dulles International (IAD). The hotel is only minutes from Reagan National airport.
- Transportation from airport to hotel – availability and cost. Conference attendees can catch the courtesy hotel shuttle from Regan National airport for free! From Baltimore-Washington airport, attendees can take the MARC train to Union Station for $6, then a taxi to the hotel for $17-20. From Dulles international, attendees can take the Silver Line Express Bus to the metrorail station for $5, then the Metro Silver line and Blue line to Crystal City for $4
- Location of hotel – downtown with attractions within walking distance and easy public transportation. The hotel provides a courtessy shuttle to the Crystal City metrorail station, which provides access to all parts of the DC area.
- Tourist city – our nation’s capital! Monuments and memorials, eclectic neighborhoods, true local flavor – Washington, DC is a place unlike any other. It’s your home away from home with free museums and America’s front yard.
- Weather – In the summer months, average high temperatures are in the high 80s and low temperatures are in the high 60s.
We are excited for ANN to return to Washington D.C.! Our last conference in the DC area was in 2011.
